Why I Love Barry Manilow

Having come up in the 1970s, I listened to plenty of Barry Manilow, and I have a soft spot for him. A few years ago, I caught him on “Family Guy” and decided that he was absolutely awesome: what a sense of humor! In addition to writing so many great songs!

Then, last week I got a press release that has turned me into the ultimate Barry Manilow fan: The Manilow Music Project, which is donating musical instruments to public schools all over the country. Last week, he donated a Yamaha piano to the Chicago Public Schools.

My kid was a Chicago Public Schools student until the middle of June (8th grade graduation), and his school had a violin program when he was in the primary grades. And, he loved it! It was a great way for him to stretch his brain, and he has kept it up after outgrowing what the school offered. It was fantastic, and more kids need that opportunity. Good for Barry Manilow for helping out!
