Taking My Own Stock Photos

As someone who makes a living selling intellectual property, I’m always leery of grabbing random photos online to put into blog posts. I won’t say that I’ve never done it, but I don’t like doing it.

Last fall, I took a photography class in order to add a new skill to my repertoire. I have a fancy camera (that I bought second-hand, as I am cheap like that); I don’t use it nearly enough because I’m scared of it. In class, I learned just enough to know that I can’t keep all the settings straight. There’s a reason professional photographers charge good money!

Still, I take my camera out and practice with it, because it’s the only way to get good, right? And I had a great idea. Why not take my own stock photos for this blog? I write about money, so my first project was to take photos of money. (Then I played around in Lightroom to make them more interesting.)
