Camera Conundrum

For a while now, I’ve wanted to learn photography. I figure that I have editors who might be willing to buy some photos from me, depending on the story, and that the experience of a visual practice would be a good contrast with writing. I have a fancy camera (bought second-hand from Adorama), and I took a class at the Chicago Photography Center, but it seems so hard! (And that’s without the tedium that is Lightroom.) In the meantime, I’m amazed at the quality of photos I can get on my phone, with or without the special effects apps. Also, it’s so easy to share the photos.

I left my Droid at home to prevent surprise data fees. The Nikon camera is here, charging, and I’ve decided that this trip is the test. If I start to feel comfortable with the camera, I’ll keep it. If not, it will be phone only.

How many other people are making similar decisions right now? I’ll bet, lots.
