A post-blogathon project – learning about Africa

So the other day I was talking to my class about the economic state of the world, and said something about Africa being a huge range of countries in different states of stability and development, and I realized that I was spouting platitudes. I really don’t know enough about enough of the countries to discuss them, and that bothers me! So I have set up a new project: to find out something about every single country on the continent. The goal is to write up one country a week.

It’s a long list, too. I’m going to approach Africa like a page, going from west to east starting from the north, as that might help my geographical knowledge, too.

This will hardly be definitive research. It will scratch the surface, and it may rely on novels and movies as much as real research. I know it’s a superficial project, but it will improve my base of knowledge, and, I hope, yours as well.

Any great suggestions for things I should look into?
