Summer fun and your tax dollars

I live in Chicago, one of the world’s greatest cities. Every summer, there are almost too many concerts, festivals, and special events.

But you know what? Wherever you live is pretty special, too. There are so many great places, all over the country. And your town has parks, museums, and special events, too. Your tax dollars are supporting these, so go and get your money’s worth!

Right now, go to your town’s website and find the list of upcoming events. Find one that sounds like fun, and put it on your calendar. It’s your right!

(I happen to think that these events are a good use of tax dollars, because they build communities and help people get more value out of a limited budget. But because I am paying for them, I want to enjoy them!)
