Apps and Extensions For Freelancers

desktopLike any good freelancer, I’m always looking for ways to do my job better. Here are my current favorite apps and extensions for freelancers, to get your business accelerating:

  • HelloSign: The best and easiest way to sign contracts. This has improved my freelance life more than just about any other form of technology. I raved about it for Fast Company; I still rave about it.
  • Workflowy: This is the dreamiest way to do to-do lists. I tend to think in outline form, and this helps me keep track of all of the many lists that run work and life. It also syncs perfectly.
  • WiseStamp:This is an easy way to create an email signature in Gmail. It pulls in an RSS feed, Twitter links, and other fun stuff to help me market while giving people important contact information.
  • Freedom: Almost every writer alive needs Freedom to function. If you have not discovered it, this is your chance. It blocks your Internet access so that you can work free of distraction.

Are there others I should know about? Let me know in the comments!

    1. Great article Ann.
I’ll have to look into that Freedom app. I recently tried out another app and accidentally blocked myself from all the sites I need to use for work, and wasn’t able to undo it :/

      And thanks for including WiseStamp!

    2. You are welcome!

The way to undo freedom is to reboot the machine. I rarely set it for more than 30 minutes so that, if I need to research something, I won’t be shut out for too long and won’t need to deal with a reboot.
